Together for Mablethorpe

Major government funding is coming into Mablethorpe over the next ten years – and local people are at the very heart of deciding how this money should be spent.

Through the government’s Pride in Place programme, Mablethorpe is set to receive £20M in funding, starting in 2027.

This funding is all about giving local people power to make Mablethorpe a stronger, thriving place.

The funding will be overseen by a Neighbourhood Board that is being set up, and more than half of those members will be from the local community.

And, starting right now, we’re asking local people to help to shape the plans for this investment: have your say today for Mablethorpe’s exciting future.

What’s Mablethorpe Pride in Place all about?

Mablethorpe is set to receive £20M in government funding as part of the Pride in Place programme. This programme has been set up with three aims – to support stronger communities, to create thriving places, and to help people take back control.

What can the money be spent on?

What the funding will be spent on in Mablethorpe will be decided with local people but it should be used for projects and activties that come under these themes:

These themes are broad which means we can come up with varied and different projects for the funding – but what will be most important of all is that the money is invested in things the community wants.

63% of the funding has to be spent on capital projects, so physical projects, whilst the rest – 37% – can be spent on revenue projects, meaning activities that involve people.

Where can the funding be spent?

The money available can be spent within the existing Town Council boundary for Mablethorpe and Sutton-on-Sea. This covers the same area where the £38million investment through the Town Deal programme is being spent.

When will the funding start?

This funding will be invested in Mablethorpe over ten years from April 2027. The funding will come from government in phases over the ten year period so we won’t get all the £20M up front. We will be given a small amount of the funding – called ‘capacity funding’ – to help us get started this year.

What do we have to do for the funding?

We have to come up with a ten year vision for the funding which sets out the long-term ‘priorities’ that the money will be spent on in Mablethorpe. We also need to come up with a plan for the first four years. The vision and plan have to be sent to the government by 28th November 2026.

Who will oversee this funding?

We’re setting up a Neighbourhood Board for Mablethorpe. This will be a mix of local people as well as representatives from important organisations such as the police, East Lindsey District Council, and other partners. The MP Victoria Atkins will be on the board and we are working with the MP to appoint a chair. This is in line with the government guidance.

Who will be carrying out the work?

The Pride in Place Programme Manager is Bonnie Mitchell and the Pride in Place Programme Coordinator is Saskia Zablockyj who will make sure the funding and projects are delivered in Mablethorpe. They will also be working in Skegness which is also receiving the funding, so we can be joined up between both towns and share best practice. You will see the Programme Manager and Programme Coordinator out and about as a really important part of their roles will be working with local people and finding out what the community wants in Mablethorpe.

Where can I find out more?
